Family Artist in Residence, Camden Arts Centre

2018

I was the Family Artist in Residence at the Camden Arts Centre from April to June 2018 and ran the Family Takeover Sessions providing free, creative and fun activities that took inspiration from the exhibition programme. During my residency Sadie Benning: Sleep Rock and Ian White: Any frame is a thrown voice were on view. So I planned the sessions to enable families an accessible entry point to understanding these artists’ respective work, their shared themes and the points of connection to my own artistic work. We creatively explored transformation, framing and identity by working with a range of materials and processes in order to make sets and props, stage performances and create new alter egos.

Also, if you visited the gallery any day of the week you could engage with the Family Activity Box, which included instructions and materials for an activity I created called “Reframe, Reflect and React”. It aimed to enable families to playfully explore the shows, extend their visit and change their perspective.
